In addition to being a ceramics teacher at Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo for nearly 20 years, Kathryn Stovall works and teaches out of her home ceramics studio located in beautiful San Clemente, CA. She has also taught ceramics at Mount San Antonio and Riverside Community Colleges.

With degrees in both painting and drawing from Cal State Fullerton, Kathryn developed a rich foundation for ceramics, stained glass, illustration, graphic arts and design. Working at Disney Studios as a Disneyland artist while in college also exposed Kathryn to the professional art world at an early age.

Kathryn’s work is informed and influenced by people, places, and life experiences.  The ocean and nature have always been an integral part of her life, so many of Kathryn’s images contain elements from the natural world: Fish ~ Waves ~  Shells ~  Water Symbols ~ Flowers ~ Plants. Every piece of her artwork is hand made and unique whether it be formed from clay, glass, fabric, beads, shells, paint or tile.

Kathryn’s artwork resides in many private collections and has been purchased by museums, including the Orange County Museum in Newport Beach, AMOCA (American Museum of Ceramic Arts) in Pomona, and the Yixing Museum in Xian, China.  She also creates custom tableware for restaurants and cafes.

Locally, Kathryn’s work is available at Mission Fine Art Gallery in San Juan Capistrano, Zebra Coffee and Just B’Cuz in San Clemente. In addition, she has contributed many public art projects in the forms of murals, mosaics, and stained glass throughout the country and in her local community.

Kathryn resides in San Clemente with her husband of 44 years.
