What is something personal you’d like to share about yourself?
I studied rug design in school.
How did you find ceramics?
Ceramics was like a miracle in my life because I saw myself throwing on the potter’s wheels during a hypnotic therapy session. I didn’t know anything about ceramics before this, so I knew it was a sign for me to follow. I began working with clay by enrolling in ceramics courses at Saddleback College.
Who are your influences?
The Egyptian ceramic artist Ashraf Hana is my biggest influence.
How would you describe your work?
Minimalistic and modern.
Why do you love/what do you love about ceramics?
What I love about ceramics is the sense of connecting with a part of nature (clay).
If you had to choose one, Handbuilding or Wheel-Throwing? Why?
I would choose wheel throwing because for me that’s where the magic in ceramics happens.
